Among green pastures, pristine forests and authentic villages, Alpe Cimbra is a destination that combines nature, tradition and culture. An ideal place for excursions, outdoor activities and moments of relaxation in every season. One of the most fascinating experiences is the visit to the Honey Museum, where the captivating world of bees unfolds through interactive paths and curiosities that enchant both adults and children. A journey celebrating harmony between humans and nature, in the heart of a territory waiting to be discovered.
The crystal-clear Lake Lavarone, with reserved parking and accessible beaches, is the perfect place to enjoy summer in complete freedom. An accessible path allows you to easily reach the lakeshore and the two beaches Marzari and Bertoldi. The lake holds the European Blue Flag. And if you love water sports, you can book canoe courses organized by Scie di Passione or, if you prefer relaxation, enjoy a pedal-boat ride admiring the splendid landscape surrounding the lake.
When a storm arrives, you can only wait for it to pass. Then you can choose how to react. Marco Martalar, a world-renowned wood sculptor, reacted by creating an unforgettable work, the Dragon of Magrè. What the Vaia Storm destroyed in October 2018 was brought back to life through his art. Through his ingenuity, skill and heartfelt empathy, nature was reborn with beauty and pride. A reconstruction made possible thanks to widespread participation in a fundraising campaign. The new Dragon is part of the Lavarone Green Land project and symbolizes resilience and the will to begin again.
Among lush forests and wide clearings, in the Alpe Cimbra area it is easy to encounter elegant roe deer or agile chamois inhabiting the mountains. In the clear skies, the majestic flight of the eagle dominates, symbolizing freedom and strength. Each season nature offers surprises: porcini mushrooms sprouting in the woods, wild strawberries and blueberries coloring the meadows and delighting with their authentic flavors. An unspoiled environment inviting you to experience genuine moments in contact with the most authentic mountain landscape.
Vezzena is a typical Trentino cheese, produced on the heights of Passo Vezzena during the alpine pasture season, when cows graze freely among meadows full of Alpine flowers and herbs. This special diet gives the milk unique aromas that are reflected in the cheese with intense, persistent notes, making it a true excellence of mountain dairy tradition.
A defensive stronghold of southern Trentino against the Italian army, Forte Belvedere-Gschwent is one of the largest Austro-Hungarian fortresses of the Great War, the only one perfectly preserved and entirely visitable. Inside, a museum preserves many war artifacts and offers multimedia installations that illustrate, even for young visitors, an interactive path that helps understand – and soberly reflect upon – what was experienced in these lands.
Even during the most intense periods of his work, Freud considered holidays sacred, to the point of rejecting lucrative requests for sessions from patients. He loved the mountains, hiking and traveling to discover new points of view. He believed that contact with nature and the joy of beautiful landscapes were essential to human life. If Italy was the foreign country he visited most, Trentino was the Italian region Freud explored most thoroughly, and Lavarone can be considered the quintessential Freudian place: here he wrote, “on bright days,” one of his most important works, “Gradiva”.
Bee Trek - The Path of the Bees is based on the concept of Walking Story: knowing, sharing and narrating through walking. The territory is imagined as an open book, made more captivating by Bee Trek’s small, discreet and non-invasive installations. The main features of the trail are the four Bee Trek Gardens of Folgaria, Lake Lavarone, the Honey Museum and Luserna, designed to support the life of pollinating insects.
Along the twenty-seven kilometer route from Folgaria to Luserna, in addition to enjoying the gardens, you can find inspiration in writings dedicated to bees, drawn from the worlds of art, literature and science, placed along the trail.
Surrounded by alpine meadows and centuries-old forests, the Folgaria Golf Club on the Alpe Cimbra offers a unique experience where sport meets the untouched nature of Trentino. While walking the fairways it’s easy to spot the rich Alpine flora and fauna, with seasonal blossoms, roe deer quietly crossing the fields and buzzards soaring above.
Thanks to the altitude of the plateau, playing here means enjoying golf in a refreshing and invigorating environment, ideal for summer days dedicated to relaxation, focus and true well-being in contact with the mountains.
In the heart of the Alpe Cimbra, in Bertoldi on the Lavarone plateau, the Lavarone Bike Park is a must for mountain bike enthusiasts and those seeking an immersive experience in nature. Here you’ll find four adrenaline-filled downhill trails – Rum Runner (easy), Mojito (medium), and the challenging Pina Colada and Whezzyssghevenait – offering curves, jumps, ramps and wooden structures that enhance the natural terrain while ensuring maximum safety.
Alongside this intense experience, the Alpe Cimbra offers the iconic 100 km dei Forti, a historic and scenic MTB route along ancient military roads of the First World War.
The Alpe Cimbra Ski Area offers breathtaking panoramas that showcase the beauty of the surrounding territory. The great Folgaria-Lavarone ski resort (104 km of slopes divided into 66 trails) is the ideal place to experience the mountains in winter and enjoy snow activities in Trentino. Besides alpine skiing, ski touring, snowboarding, freeriding and cross-country skiing, you can try special experiences such as fat-bike excursions or snowshoe hikes, making your winter holiday truly unforgettable.
Alpe Cimbra preserves ancient traditions still alive today in the colors of traditional clothing, village festivals and stories handed down through generations. A heritage that recalls the times when mountain trades – such as woodcutters, cheesemakers or shepherds – shaped the community’s daily life.
Among the most beloved symbols is potato polenta, a typical dish combining simplicity and authentic flavor: the star of festivals and cooking competitions, where different recipes compete in an atmosphere of celebration and conviviality. Experiencing Alpe Cimbra’s folklore means diving into a genuine world of tradition, flavor and mountain identity.
